Hyundai Genesis not UK-bound

The Hyundai Genesis luxury saloon won't make the trip from the US market to go on sale in Europe, the car maker has revealed.

advertisment

'For now, the biggest car we sell [in Europe] will be the i40,' the company's European boss, Allan Rushforth, told What Car?.

However, he hinted that the next-generation Genesis should be engineered for Europe, so that the brand can offer a credible, rear-wheel-drive rival to the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-Class.

Company insiders have suggested that the I-oniq concept car, which will be revealed at the Geneva motor show in March, will have styling cues that eventually influence the next Genesis.
