When it comes to finding the perfect company car to help cut your daily running costs and slash your benefit-in-kind (BIK) contributions* while still offering all the practicality, style and advanced features you need for work and play, few models offer the choice of both economical hybrid or cost-cutting all-electric.

Hyundai Kona Hybrid: the best of both worlds
The Hyundai Kona Hybrid seamlessly blends electrified efficiency with petrol flexibility for ultimate get-in-and-go ability. Mating an economical yet punchy 105PS 1.6-litre GDI turbocharged petrol engine with an advanced high-torque 43.5PS electric motor and a powerful 1.56kWh lithium-ion battery, the Kona Hybrid offers a flexible powertrain that provides petrol convenience for long commutes [with significantly improved efficiency] and urban-friendly zero-emissions motoring around town.
When accelerating at low speeds the Hyundai Kona Hybrid runs on 100% electrical power, while under heavy acceleration the 1.6-litre petrol engine works seamlessly with the motor and battery to maximise acceleration and fuel consumption. When driving at constant speeds – such as on the motorway – either the electric motor or petrol engine will provide power, depending on which is more efficient at the time. Then, when you lift off the throttle or brake, the regenerative braking system pumps power back into the battery for later use.
With 141PS and 265Nm of torque, the Hyundai Kona Hybrid is swift off the line – perfect for nipping through urban traffic or hauling luggage on a family weekend away. Thanks to the hybrid system, fuel economy is an impressive 57.6mpg (WLTP) with just 112g/km[2] CO2 helping to slash daily running costs. You won’t have to worry about ULEZ charges, either.
BIK comes in at just 27%, meaning a 20% taxpayer will contribute roughly £108 per month, with 40% taxpayers contributing around £216 per month. Thanks to the low CO2 figures, VED road tax sits at just £180 for the year.
Hyundai Kona Electric: long-range meets superb efficiency
Next, the Hyundai Kona Electric takes slashing your daily running costs, BIK contributions and road tax payments to the next level, all while offering the range to go the distance and enough advanced technology to put the International Space Station to shame.
The Hyundai Kona Electric is available with a city-friendly 39.2kWh battery that offers up to 155 miles (WLTP) of range that is perfect for everyday commuting, while the long-range 64kWh battery offers up to 300 miles (WLTP) on a single charge. In the case of the latter, that's enough to complete the average UK commute (10-20 miles a day) roughly 15 times – or travel from central London to Newcastle in one go.
On-the-go charging is a breeze thanks to rapid charging that sees the Hyundai Kona Electric get from 10%-80% charge in as little as 47 minutes[1] – just enough time for a quick lunch break and toilet stop on the way to the office or a family trip to the seaside. Clever three-level regenerative braking lets you control exactly how much power is put back into the battery for later use, while innovative 1-Paddle Mode recuperates energy at its highest rate – perfect for single-pedal urban driving.
Charging at home is easy too with the Hyundai Bluelink smartphone app that lets you program exactly when you want your Hyundai Kona Electric to charge and check on charging process, meaning you can set off every morning with a full battery. You can also pre-heat the car, making the interior nice and toasty on those chilly winter mornings, and pre-condition the battery for maximum range efficiency.
In fact, Hyundai’s Bluelink app allows you to pre-plan all your routes from the comfort of your home or office, sending the directions straight to the Kona’s sat-nav system. Bluelink also helps you find the nearest rapid chargers, including IONITY’s expanded range of ultra-rapid chargers across the UK – helping to make every commute or weekend adventure easier. Bluelink also lets you lock and unlock your Hyundai Kona Electric remotely for added security.
The range-topping 64kWh version of the Hyundai Kona Electric boasts 201PS and 395Nm of instant electric torque, meaning a 0-60mph dash of just 7.9 seconds – plenty for zipping around town or getting into your stride on the motorway. But where the Hyundai Kona Electric shines most is when it comes to cutting your daily running costs.
With BIK rates of just 2% for the 2022/2023 tax year, 20% taxpayers will contribute just £143 per year, with 40% taxpayers coming in at just £286 for the year. No VED road tax means a possible saving of hundreds compared to the equivalent diesel SUV, while low-cost overnight charging rates could see you save thousands in fuel costs compared to gas-guzzling diesels over the course of its company car lifetime.

Blind Spot Collision Warning, Lane Keep Assist and Lane Follow Assist all lend an extra pair of eyes to keep you in lane and on the road, while Forward Collision Warning will automatically apply the brakes if it senses an imminent accident and Adaptive Cruise Control helps keep you a safe distance from the car ahead.
Parking sensors help avoid nasty scrapes around town, while Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist sounds a warning and will even apply the brakes if it senses a possible collision when you’re reversing out of a parking space – just another pair of eyes to help keep you and your passengers safe. Crisp LED lights help cut through the dark, too.
Finally, inside there’s plenty of room to stretch out and relax, with hybrid versions boasting 374 litres of boot space with a large opening that makes getting luggage in and out easy.
So, available with seamless efficient hybrid or zero-emissions all-electric power, there’s a Hyundai Kona to suit every company car driver. All you need to do is choose the right one for you.
