Jaguar recalls 18,000 X-types

Jaguar has issued a recall for almost 18,000 X-types because of a cruise control fault.
The cruise control may not 'respond to the normal inputs' according to a letter sent to owners, meaning there is a chance it may not switch off in the normal manner even if the brakes are applied.
However, it will deactivate when the ignition is switched off.
The problem affects 2.2-litre diesel models built between 2006 and 2009 and concers 17,678 customers.
A company spokesman said it was a problem that was noticed by an employee and no customers had been affected.
Owners of the cars involved should have received a letter from Jaguar, and will have to visit their dealer where the work will be carried out free of charge.
Jaguar no longer makes the X-type, with production having ended in 2009.
