Longer, wider, more practical Berlingo

* Longer, wider and roomier than old model
* 3000-litre capacity in boot
* XTR version has off-roader styling

Citroen's new Berlingo Multispace will be longer, wider and able to carry more than the old model when it goes on sale in the summer.

The new Berlingo is more practical than the previous model, Citroen says, thanks to items such as an overhead interior storage unit for long items such as skis, and a removeable central storage compartment.

There's also an opening tailgate window, a folding front passenger seat and three separately folding or removable seats. The middle of these features a desktop, cup holder and storage compartment when folded.

Equipment will include automatic headlights, a park-assist system, steering wheel-mounted controls and a speed limiter. There will also be an air freshener and a rechargeable torch.

The new car is longer and wider than the outgoing car, and that means it can offer up to 3000 litres of space in the back.

Details on engines are sketchy at the moment, but there will be a 110bhp turbodiesel with a diesel particulate filter.

There are no details on trims, either, but there will be an XTR model, which has raised ground clearance and off-roader styling. It will have two-tone bumpers and grille, black body sections, side running strips and tinted rear windows.
