Mazda's new CX-5 revealed
* Minagi concept car previews new CX-5 * Due late this year * Likely to cost from around 22k...

This Mazda Minagi concept car will be unveiled at the Geneva motor show in March and go on sale as a Ford Kuga-rivalling CX-5 towards the end of this year.
It is expected to cost from around 22,000, and the production version of the crossover should look like the Minagi, which follows the style of the Kazamai concept car revealed in 2008.
The car bears a striking resemblance to the bigger CX-7, while Mazda says the styling 'evokes a powerful and emotive sense of pent-up energy and vitality'. Hmmm, quite.
The CX-5 is part of Mazda's drive to improve efficiency and lower emissions of future products by keeping weight down.
Mazda has already said that replacements for the 3 small family car and 6 family car will be at least 100kg lighter than their predecessors and have emissions of less than 120g/km by 2012, and then 105g/km by 2015.
There are no engine or performance details for the Minagi yet, but judging by these targets the CX-5 should comfortably exceed an average of 50mpg.
