Mercedes C63 AMG Edition 507 announced

The Mercedes C63 AMG Edition 507 is a more powerful version of the standard C63 AMG, which will be launched at the Geneva motor show.

The new 500bhp version of the C63 AMG promises increased power and speed over the standard model, which offers 451bhp. It is intended to be a special-edition model thats closer to the standard C63 in performance and ability than the hardcore C63 AMG Black.

The Edition 507 is available in saloon, coupe and estate formats, with all three capable of an electrically limited top speed of 174mph. The saloon and the coupe complete the 0-62mph sprint in 4.2 seconds, while the estate takes 4.3 seconds.

Mercedes has increased the Edition 507s power by reworking the 6.3-litre engine on the standard car, and adding elements from the SLS ALG supercar. A new engine control system helps manage the extra bhp, while it comes with a seven-speed sports gearbox as standard.

The Edition 507 also comes with lightweight performance brakes, bespoke alloy wheels and additional bonnet air inlets to help cope with the extra power.

The Edition 507 comes with black exterior detailing, with the rear spoiler, grille and headlight surrounds also finished in black.

Inside, it gets a choice of three types of leather upholstery, an AMG Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel, red instrument clusters and Edition 507 badging.

Prices wont be confirmed until closer to its launch in the summer, but its expected to cost around 67,000. The first customers should get their cars in July.
