Microsoft's in-car computer

Microsoft's domination of the home computer market may extend to your car in the near future.

This week, the company unveiled an in-car system that links PDAs, mobile phones, iPods and sat-nav systems, enabling the driver to control each gadget using voice commands.

In addition, the system also automatically connects to the emergency services in the event of an airbag going off and runs a complete diagnostic check on your car whenever you use it.

The system could be seen in new cars in two or three years.
