New diesel/better spec for Jeep Patriot
* 2.2-litre replaces 2.0-litre * More power, better economy and emissions * More equipment for Sport trims...
Jeep has introduced a new 2.2-litre diesel engine for its Patriot 4x4, and has improved the specification of Sport versions.
The new Mercedes engine replaces the 2.0-litre Volkswagen engine that was previously used and is more powerful, faster and efficient.
Power is up by 23bhp to 163bhp which helps to extend the top speed from 117mph to 125mph and cuts 0.3sec off the 0-62mph time, which now stands at 10.7sec.
Fuel economy improves slightly, from 42.4mpg to 42.8mpg, while a drop in emissions to 172g/km means the Patriot is now two bands lower in the company car scale and also attracts cheaper road tax.
Prices start at 17,495 for a car in Sport trim. This has body-coloured door handles, hill start assist, leather-wrapped handbrake and active head restraints. Alloy wheels, air-conditioning, electric windows and a full load of airbags are also fitted.
Sport + costs from 18,495 and now has cruise control, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls and Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity.
A Limited version, that comes with an electric driver's seat, is 19,995, while the top-of-the-range 21,995 Overland has leather seats, extra side airbags for the front seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors and a tyre-pressure-monitoring system.
