New Mazda 2 diesel

Mazda has added a 1.6-litre diesel engine to its supermini range.

Mazda 2 buyers now have a choice between the new 90bhp 1.6-litre and the current 68bhp 1.4-litre diesel model.

With prices starting from 12,817, the new 1.6D has emissions of just 112g/km and averages 67.3mpg, while the 1.4D manages 68.9mpg and 107g/km.

Under the new vehicle excise duty banding system, both models qualify for 35 road tax.

Both models come well equipped: the 1.4D TS2 has 15-inch alloy wheels, six airbags, electric front windows and air-conditioning, while the 1.6D Sport upgrades the alloys to 16-inch and adds front foglights, electric rear windows and automatic wipers and headlights.
