New Mazda CX-7 revealed

Mazda will launch a new, improved CX-7 later this year.
The updated SUV will be tough competition for rivals such as the Land Rover Freelander and Volvo XC60, because it will be available with a diesel engine for the first time.
New diesel engine makes a more efficient option
A new 2.2-litre diesel engine will provide the biggest boost for the CX-7, giving it more appeal in a market dominated by cleaner, more economical diesel-powered rivals.
With CO2 emissions of 199g/km and average economy of 37.7mpg, the new engine is a big improvement over the current 2.3-litre petrol engine's figures of 243g/km and 27.7mpg.
Reduced emissions
New emission-cutting technology will also be fitted. A selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system sprays an active ingredient into the exhaust, where a chemical reaction neutralises nitrous oxides (NOx), which have been linked to breathing problems and local pollution.
Mazda hasn't confirmed whether the SCR system will be fitted as standard, or available as a cost option. It's also unclear whether the petrol model will continue on sale.
Updated looks
The CX-7 gets a makeover, too, with a new front bumper, extra chrome trim and an enlarged logo that brings it in line with Mazda's latest family look.
Price and specification details have yet to be confirmed, but they will be announced closer to the October on-sale date.
The new CX-7 will be revealed at the Frankfurt motor show in September.
