New Mini Clubvan confirmed

The Mini Clubvan a commercial vehicle based on the Clubman will go into production, the company has confirmed.

The Clubvan will offer the practicality of a stripped-out loadbay with a high level of specification. It has a solid and steel-mesh bulkhead between the seats and the loadbay. The car will provide 860 litres of space and a payload of 500kg.

The floor is completely flat and the bay is covered with high-quality upholstery and an anthracite roof lining.

A selection of 12-volt sockets and six heavy-duty loops complete the practical offering in the back, while tinted rear windows help keep the cargo out of sight. Up front there's a high level of kit for a van, including DAB radio, air-conditioning, electric windows, an alarm, and side- and head airbags.

The options list includes leather sports seats, automatic cruise control, adaptive xenon headlights, parking sensors and a trailer hitch, while the standard 15-inch alloy wheels can be upgraded to 16- or 17-inch versions.

Prices start at 11,175 (ex VAT) for the petrol 79bhp One model, while the 120bhp Cooper costs 12,475 (ex VAT). A Cooper D model is available with either a manual and automatic gearbox, with the manual emitting just 103g/km of CO2 and managing an average of 72.4mpg. The manual version costs 13,600 (ex VAT), with the automatic at 14,510 (ex VAT).

The Clubvan will be built at Mini's Oxford factory from September, and the first vehicles are expected to be delivered in October.
