New Renault Megane CC revealed

This the new Renault Megane Coupe-Cabriolet, which completes the 18-month revamp of the entire range.

New style
The Megane CC has the company's new frontal styling features, and the same sports bumper that's used on the Coupe version. A redesigned boot-lid incorporates the upper section of the new rear light clusters.

Its most striking feature, however, is the large folding glass roof, which is standard on all versions of the new model it's also 10% bigger than that of the previous car's.

The tinted glass roof, satin-effect windscreen frame and waistline give the appearance of a cabriolet even when the roof is up.

Lowering the two-part glass roof takes just 21seconds.

Interior
The CC's interior largely follows that of the other Megane body-types, but also gets seats with additional support, a 'butterfly wing' door trim motif and a dark charcoal roof trim.

Top-down motoring is made more comfortable for the car's occupants by the fixed glass wind deflector, which can cut wind noise and turbulence at speeds up to 56mph.

The windscreen header-rail has been moved forward by 6cm to improve access and remove the 'cap' effect created by more steeply raked windscreens.

Engine options
The new Megane Coupe-Cabriolet is available with a choice of three petrol engines and a trio of diesel units.

Petrol power comes from a 138bhp 2.0-litre, a turbocharged 128bhp 1.4 and a 178bhp turbocharged 2.0 unit. Diesel comes from 108bhp, 128bhp and 158bhp units.

The lower-powered diesel is Renault's first model that can be specified with the company's version of Volkswagen's semi-automatic DSG gearbox. It also gets Renault's EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) transmission, which lowers emissions and improves fuel economy over models fitted with the manual gearbox.

Megane CC gets a sporty touch
The Megane CC range includes two sporty versions, the GT Line and GT.

GT Line
GT Line takes the form of an option pack available for Dynamique-spec cars and includes:

• bespoke front bumper
• rear bumper incorporates an aerodynamic diffuser
• 'GT Line' badging on the grille and boot-lid
• 17-inch Celsium alloy wheels.
• 'GT Line' badging on the head rests and dashboard trim
• aluminium pedal covers
• analogue rev-counter

GT
GT trim gets the same styling details as GT Line, along with the following:

• 18-inch dark metal Jetow aluminium alloy wheels
• leather-trimmed steering wheel from Megane Renaultsport 250

GT also gets these additional performance features:
• choice of TCe 180 and dCi 160 engines
• Renault Sport Technologies-developed chassis
• sportier calibration of the electric power steering
• upgraded brakes

The new Megane Coupe-Cabriolet goes on sale in the UK in July. Prices have yet to be confirmed, but we expect them to start around 20,000.
