New Vauxhall Zafira revealed
* Vauxhall Ampera-inspired design * No rear-hinged Meriva-style doors * 'A lounge on wheels', says designer...

This is the first-ever look at the all-new Vauxhall Zafira seven-seater MPV, which goes on sale in the UK in 2012. It will appear in near-finished form at the Geneva motor show in March.

Mark Adams, vice-president of design for Opel and Vauxhall, said the new Zafira was 'a lounge on wheels' in a presentation of the car as a hologram hovering over an iPad.
The Zafira was once a byword for versatility, but the interior will certainly have to be more flexible and inviting than the current version's because rivals such as the Citroen C4 Grand Picasso have overtaken it.
The middle-row bench will almost certainly be replaced with easier-to-use individual seats.
The styling of the newcomer clearly follows the new look set by the Ampera range-extended electric car with bold, boomerang-shaped headlights.
The image also confirms the rear-hinged doors found on the Meriva won't be used on the Zafira.
