With a load length of 1797mm, a load width of 1230mm and a load height of 1272mm, the new Caddy Cargo’s load bay is longer, wider and taller than the previous generation and provides a vast load volume of 3.1 cubic meters. This means you can now pack Euro pallets widthways for the first time, allowing you to haul even more.

The payload is impressive too – 700kg in total with 90% fuel capacity and a 75kg driver, with up to 100kg of the load safely secured on the roof. And if you need even more space, the longer wheelbase Caddy Cargo Maxi provides an extra 353mm of load length, taking the load bay up to an enormous 3.7 cubic meters.

Space is nothing without accessibility, and that’s why the new Caddy Cargo sports wide-opening rear swing-doors that are 51mm larger than the previous generation. The soft-close sliding side doors also offer plenty of access, with enough width to comfortably load Euro pallets and plenty of other gear from the pavement.

Strengthened floor coverings keep your van in top condition, while steel-panelled doors keep your tools safe overnight. Hauling big items? Six lashing rings can keep your loads tied down, and LED interior lighting makes working in the dark safe and easy.

Up front, the new Volkswagen Caddy’s sleek and cosseting interior boasts a streamlined cockpit layout, while four-way adjustable ergoComfort seats keep you comfortable and relaxed on long journeys. Standard on Plus and Pro trims, armrests provide further support, while useful features like a fold-down work surface on the back of the passenger seat make the Caddy Cargo’s cabin a great workplace.

The new Volkswagen Caddy is brimmed with the latest in-car technology. An optional Digital Cockpit provides a crisp and clear display for all your essential driving information, while Composition Audio and a DAB radio twinned with an optional 10-inch infotainment touchscreen[1] allows for class-leading connectivity and entertainment.

Bluetooth comes as standard, while We Connect[2] packages allow you to control vital functions of the new Caddy from your phone – including receiving live traffic information and the ability to hotspot Wi-Fi. The new Volkswagen Caddy is a class leader when it comes to safety, with over 19 driver assistance systems available[3]. Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist take the stress out of long-distance driving, while Front Assist with City Emergency braking (fitted as standard to all models), Rear Cross Traffic Alert lend a watchful eye in town.

And, if you do happen to be involved in a crash, the Caddy Call Emergency System will automatically contact the emergency services. Equally, if your van has a technical problem, the system will notify the relevant recovery provider.

When it comes to powering your way through the day, the new Caddy’s wide range of engines have enough grunt to deliver the load-lugging power for any task, as well as the efficient fuel economy that helps you to cut your daily running costs.

The Euro 6-compliant 2.0-litre diesel engines – with up to 120bhp and 236lb ft of torque – return a maximum of 58.9mpg (combined WLTP)[4] while innovative twin-dosing AdBlue technology reduces NOx emissions for cleaner driving.

An efficient and punchy 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol engine is also on offer, with 112bhp and 162lb ft of torque and up to 43.5mpg (combined WLTP) [4]. There’s also the choice of optional 4MOTION four-wheel-drive if work takes you onto the path less travelled.

If it’s people you need to get from place to place, the new Caddy is also available as a passenger carrier. There are several trims to choose from, including the five-seater Caddy and Caddy Life or the larger seven-seater Caddy Maxi and Caddy Maxi Life – which is 353mm longer, with an extra row of two seats and a sliding door that is 143mm larger for even easier access.

With flexible, foldable and removable seats, up to 1720 litres of storage space (with two rows of seats removed) and roof rails as standard, the passenger Caddy combines work and play into a seamless package. And, with handy features such as fold-out workspaces and safety equipment like outer-seat airbags for all rows as standard, the passenger Caddy is ready for any adventure – whether family or work.
