Deal of the Day: Lease a Skoda Octavia Estate from £226 per month

The Skoda Octavia is one of the best estate cars on sale, and you could lease one for a keen price with our deals

If you need a car with plenty of storage space, but you’re not enticed by the wide range of SUVs on the market, then it’s worth taking a look at an estate car – and we think the Skoda Octavia Estate is one of the best options.

Indeed, this practical variant of Skoda’s family hatchback doesn’t just offer a big boot, but also a supple ride, plush interior and keen pricing – even more so when you take into account that you could put a new Octavia Estate on your driveway for as little as £226 per month.

To do that, you’ll need to opt for a 24-month contract with an annual mileage limit of 5000 miles, and an initial payment of £2709.76. The annual 5000 mile restriction isn’t a huge allowance, so you’ll have to be careful to avoid excess mileage charges.

If you regularly cover more miles, you could opt for a more common 36-month, 10,000-mile agreement with six months initial rental (£1859.50), which will cost £309.92 per month.

The Octavia Estate is available with both petrol and diesel power, and our Deal of the Day comes with the former, using a 148bhp 1.5-litre engine. It’s our preferred petrol engine, mostly because it offers an extra boost over the entry-level 114bhp unit, and feels more at home on the motorway.

You should have no issues getting comfortable on long journeys in the Octavia Estate, thanks to its comfortable ride that’s softer than most rivals, including the Seat Leon Estate. It can become unsettled over sharper abrasions, but on the whole, it’s very supple.

Overall comfort is similarly strong inside, too, because there’s plenty of adjustability in both the steering wheel and driver’s seat, so you should be able to find a position that’s right for you. Adjustable lumbar support also comes as standard.

Elsewhere inside, there’s a 10.3in digital driver’s display alongside a 13in infotainment touchscreen which comes with Bluetooth, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone mirroring, a DAB radio and sat-nav. The screen’s graphics are sharp and it’s quick to respond to your inputs, but we wish there were some physical buttons for more common functions like air-con.

Being an estate car, it comes as no surprise that the Octavia Estate is pleasantly roomy inside. Up front, there’s enough space for tall occupants to stretch out, and there’s a good amount of room in the rear too. Boot space, however, is outstanding – with 640 litres, the Octavia Estate is significantly more practical than most rivals. We managed to fit nine carry-on suitcases below the parcel shelf.

Our Deal of the Day comes in top-spec SportLine trim, which adds sports suspension, 18in wheels, rear privacy glass, chrome exhaust pipes, some black exterior detailing, a small black rear spoiler, sports front seats and aluminium pedals. That’s on top of the adaptive cruise control, ambient lighting, heated front windscreen, keyless entry and dual-zone climate control that comes with lower trims.
