Nissan GT-R - move fast, or miss out

More than 700 people ordered a Nissan GT-R within the first 48 hours of it going on sale last week.

However, they'll have to wait several months to find out if they will receive one from the first batch of cars to arrive in the UK next March.

This is because the GT-R's engine is hand-built in Japan, limiting production for worldwide sale to 1000 cars a month.

'There is a limit that people will be prepared to wait,' said Paul Willcox, managing director of Nissan Motor (GB), 'so in order to meet demand, we are now negotiating vigorously with Nissan Europe to secure more cars from our factory in Japan.'

As a result, Nissan is urging potential customers to order cars as soon as possible. Prices for the GT-R start from 52,900.
