Peugeot 2008 SUV at Geneva show

This is the Peugeot 2008 SUV that has appeared in production-ready form at the Geneva motor show.

It's based on the 208 and is designed to compete with rivals such as the Nissan Juke.

Styling-wise, it gets a chunkier grille, new headlamps with LED running lights, black bumpers and sills, chrome surrounds and matt alloy wheels.

Inside, the dashboard is similar to that of the 208 hatchback. It has a large centre touch-screen, chrome touches on the air vents and upmarket materials.

Rear passengers get plenty of legroom helped by the thin front seatbacks while the boot offers 360 litres of space with the seats in place and 1194 litres when they're folded down.

All versions of the 2008 get cruise control, Isofix fittings, emergency brake assistance and ASR stability control as standard.

Peugeot's Grip Control system is also included, which allows the driver to select driving modes for snow, off-road, sand and a setting that disengages the stability control.

The 2008 is powered by a selection of petrol and diesel engines from the 208. Petrol options include 1.2-litre and 1.6-litre units producing a range of power outputs from 82bhp to 130bhp. Diesel engines are a 1.4-litre and a 1.6 that produce from 68bhp to 115bhp.

The 82bhp 1.2-litre petrol fitted with engine stop-start emits 99g/km of CO2, while the 92bhp 1.6-litre diesel has emissions of 98g/km.

Customers can personalise their cars with decals, mirror casings and a selection of alloys.

The 2008 will be available to order in May, with deliveries starting later in the summer. Prices haven't been confirmed, but we expect it to cost from around 14,000.
