Scrappage boosts car orders

More than 60,000 orders have been taken through the Government's scrappage scheme, according to new figures.
The Government statistics cover the period between the launch of the scheme in May and June 7.
Business secretary Lord Mandelson said the scheme had given the UK car industry the boost it required.
Lord Mandelson said: 'Consumers know a good deal when they see one. These figures speak for themselves.'
The Government has pledged 300m to the scheme, which could benefit up to 300,000 car buyers.
