Ssangyong's 1.5 billion investment

Ssangyong aims to launch 20 new cars by 2014.

The company, which is being relaunched in the UK this year after signing up a new distributor, says that it will build its new cars on five new platforms and introduce five new engines to its range in a 1.5bn investment plan.

Paul Williams, managing director of Ssangyong's UK distributor Koelliker UK, said: 'I've seen some of the new models and, although it's unlikely that all 20 will be appropriate for the UK, it will mean a wider and more attractive range.'

Ssangyong revealed its own diesel hybrid technology at this year's Geneva motor show, which is expected to feature in the new model line-up. The company claims that it can improve fuel efficiency by up to 30%.
