Suzuki SX4 loses a door

Suzuki has launched a saloon version of its SX4 hatch-cum-SUV.

The SX4 saloon is two-wheel drive and powered by a 105bhp 1.6-litre engine through a five-speed manual gearbox.

At 11,895, it costs the same as the 1.6 GLX hatchback and is similarly equipped, coming with six airbags, electric windows, air-con, alloy wheels and a MP3-compatible CD player.

Running costs aren't what you would call low average fuel consumption is 41.5mpg while CO2 emissions are 165g/km, so you'll pay 150 a year in road tax. A cleaner more efficient 1.6 engine is due next spring.

The car is on sale now and is available with 0% finance, where you pay a 50% deposit now and the remainder a year later.
