Thatcham offers alarm guarantee scheme

Motor industry research centre Thatcham has launched a new accredited installer scheme for security systems.

The Thatcham Recognised Installer scheme fills the void left by the Vehicle Systems Installation Board, which went bust.

Thatcham's scheme includes a database of installers so motorists can choose vetted companies and know that work will be done properly.

It also hopes it will help the insurance industry to identify decent installation, and offer reductions in premiums as a result, since an electronic registration of the work will be held by Thatcham.
