Used test: Audi SQ5 vs Porsche Macan S verdict

Our verdict

As we've explored, the Audi SQ5's diesel engine isn't badly shown up, performance-wise, by the Porsche Macan's petrol one. Couple that with praiseworthy economy and the notion of diesel power in a sports SUV makes decent sense. However, the SQ5 is unlikely to tempt you to take the scenic route to work just for the fun of it, while its rival will.

The Macan positively encourages you to grab the keys and head out for a drive. In fact, even as a five-year-old used buy, it's the definitive blueprint for a sports SUV. Factor in that it holds its value better and remains pretty practical, it soon becomes clear that the Macan is the winner.
