Volkswagen hasn’t been shy in expanding its lineup of electric vehicles. In fact, they now have a strong electric offering in practically every segment, including the commercial vehicle space. But one particular model that continues to capture the admiration of What Car?’s test team is the Volkswagen ID. Buzz.
Already a multiple What Car? Award winner, the ID. Buzz LWB has now been crowned Best electric 7-seater at What Car?’s Electric Car Awards 2025. Judges were particularly impressed with the way in which the ID. Buzz manages to offer both style and substance, with its retro-cool, boxy shape offering a huge amount of passenger space while also helping it to stand out from the crowd.
Also of note is the ID. Buzz’s handy load-lugging ability. Fold or remove some of the seats, and you’re treated to van-like carrying flexibility. Yet, there’s nothing van-like in the way it drives – drivers and passengers will appreciate the extremely comfy ride. It’s surprisingly simple to park too.
Add to that a decent touchscreen, useful real-world range, and quick 200kW charging speeds, and you can see why the ID. Buzz gets the nod as the electric seven-seat champion.
This win comes after the ID. Buzz also secured Best van-based MPV at the 2025 What Car? Van and Commercial Awards, and of course, the big one in 2023 when it was crowned What Car?’s Car of the Year.
