VW launches used car sales scheme

Volkswagen has announced a new scheme to sell used cars through its dealers.

The scheme, Das WeltAuto, (which translates as the world car) goes beyond what is traditionally included in an approved used programme. Rather than just concentrating on the quality of the car, the company says this new global scheme looks at the whole buying experience and gives the buyer a flexible package.

Volkswagen says the programme will make the experience of buying a used car as close as possible to that of buying a new vehicle.

Any car (Volkswagen or not) with less than 100,000 miles and that meets the appropriate standards, can be sold as a Das WeltAuto car.

All cars will be prepared to VW standards, as well as having at least 12 months warranty, a full history check and a 30-day, 1000-mile no-quibble exchange promise.

On top of that, buyers can also choose from a list of options that includes a years free roadside assistance, three years MoT protection and free MoT tests for life.

Finally, the dealer will suggest a number of approved accessories to personalise the car, such as upgraded alloys, parking sensors and sat-nav.

The company has already tested the scheme through 21 dealers in South West England and South Wales for a year, and it will be officially launched across the full network on April 22.
