Audi TT Coupe

Looking for a coupé that's also practical enough to be your daily driver? Welcome to the Audi TT. In terms of accolades, it's a giant; in fact, the TT has won more What Car? Car of the Year Awards in its history than any other model, and in 2018 it remains our champion.

What makes the TT such a winner? Well, let's start with its 2.0-litre petrol engine, which offers impressive performance and yet should be reasonably economical. This Sport version comes with everything you're likely to want, including air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity and 18in alloy wheels.

There are a few compromises to be made with the TT – its rear seats are cramped even for children, for example – but it does offer enough space in its boot for a large weekly shop or a couple of suitcases.

This version of the TT is within your budget, with a list price of £32,040, but, as always, What Car? New Car Buying can lower that price for you. Our latest Target Price deals bring it down to a far more palatable £29,314, and our approved dealers could save you even more if you ask for a quote. Alternatively, if you're buying on a PCP finance deal, expect to pay around £334 per month, based on a 15% deposit and an annual mileage limit of 10,000.

Mercedes C-Class Coupé

If you can stretch your budget just a little, you can have this coupé version of the Mercedes C-Class, which has well-judged handling, a comfortable ride and a smart-looking interior. It's slightly more practical than the TT if you need to fill the rear seats, too.

  • Also consider: BMW 4 Series 420d Sport [Business Media]
  • List price: £36,575
  • Best What Car? deal: £33,461
BMW 4 Series Coupe

This 420d version of BMW's stylish coupé should be both powerful enough and efficient, while Sport trim comes with sports seats, 18in alloy wheels and chrome detailing on the outside. It's also more practical than either the C-Class Coupé or the TT if you need to carry more than one passenger.
