Our recommendation – buy new
The Yeti, Q2 and Ateca are all fine choices, especially if you're looking for a fairy small SUV that's still practical. It's hard to look past the Arona, however, because it offers tidy handling, holds on to its value very well and is roomier inside than most rivals. And in our real-world True MPG tests, the 1.0-litre engine we recommend averaged an impressive 45.9mpg, so your fuel bills should be small too.
Thanks to our discount, our favourite 1.0 TSI SE Technology model falls well within budget, but it's also good news if you want to buy on a PCP finance deal, because the Arona is cheaper per month than many of its rivals.
Our recommendation this time, then, is to buy new.
