The reader
Dear What Car?,
I currently drive a Volkswagen Golf Estate GTD but am looking for advice on a new car. Due to a change in job, I’m doing fewer miles, down to around 8000 a year, so I’m thinking about moving to a petrol car. I also have two sets of parents in their 70s who we go on trips with and a child, so I need a car that can fit four adults and a child seat. Both sets of parents have problems getting into low cars and struggle to get into my low-slung Golf Estate.
The other factor is that I have constrained driveway, so the size of the car can’t go much larger. My budget seems to work out at around £30,000 .
Richard
The brief
- Estate or SUV with enough space for the family
- Petrol engine
- Not too low
- Around £30,000
