Used Suzuki Swift 2024-present reliability

When viewing a used car, always follow our used car buying checklist.

Being a small car, the Suzuki Swift is likely to have been used in an urban area, so check for parking damage, such as scuffs to bumpers and kerbed wheels. On four-wheel drive models, have a quick look underneath to make sure there’s no damage underneath, just in case it has done any light off-roading.

Inside, have a look for any wear and tear, as well as any damaged trim, because of the hard interior plastics. Make sure the interior electrics are working appropriately, too.

At the time of writing, the Swift has no recalls listed.

The Swift has a good reputation for reliability, according to the What Car? Reliability Survey. While we don’t have any data on the 2024-present model, the previous generation did reasonably well, finishing in 13th place out of 26 small cars. That places it above the Ford Fiesta, Peugeot 208 and Renault Clio, but below the Mini Hatch and Volkswagen Polo. Historically, the Swift has finished higher than its most recent position (it secured first place in 2023 and seventh in 2024), so it has slipped down the rankings.

As a brand, Suzuk did much better, finishing in third place out of 30 manufacturers. That places it above all of its rivals, other than Honda and Mini.
