Richard Lane

Richard has been a motoring journalist for more than a decade, and is currently deputy reviews editor at What Car?'s sister title, Autocar. Prior to this, he was a reviewer at performance car title, Evo.

Although he's often found writing in-depth motoring features and contributing to both Autocar's YouTube channel and podcast series, he's most often found at the test track, assessing countless new cars and forensically testing their performance, practicality, running costs and much more besides.

His credentials don't end there, though. He's a class winner in the British Cross Country Championship, set Autocar's fastest-ever road-test laptime in a Ferrari 296 GTB and owns a number of iconic modern classic cars.
