What alternatives should I consider to a used Fiat 500 hatchback?
The Mini is certainly the Fiat 500’s arch rival, but that’s for good reasons. The Mini drives with go-kart-like alacrity, has a well made cabin and an excellent infotainment system – even if it is part of an optional package. It will set you back more than the Fiat, though.
The Ford Ka is the same car underneath, but it is nowhere near as desirable or as stylish as the Fiat 500. This will be reflected in the price, though, which will be considerably less.
The Volkswagen Up, and its sister cars, the Seat Mii and Skoda Citigo, provide the best blend of practicality and style for the money, aided by the fact you can get them in five-door form. They don’t offer the choice of engines the Fiat 500 has, though, which might put some people off, unless you are prepared to spend more for later Up models.
