5995 price for Dacia Sandero

The Dacia Sandero supermini will cost from just 5995 when it goes on sale later this month.
Dacia's five-door Ford Fiesta rival will undercut other budget models such as the 6999 Perodua Myvi and the Suzuki Alto, which costs from 7195. The Sandero offers more space than the Alto, and more kerb appeal than the Perodua.
The Sandero comes with three engine options; two petrols and a diesel. The entry-level version has a 74bhp 1.2-litre petrol that's claimed to average 47.9mpg.
The 89bhp 0.9-litre petrol engine is available from 7395, with average economy of 54.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 120g/km. The 1.5-litre diesel engine is the most economical of all at 74.3mpg, and has CO2 emissions of just 99g/km.
Entry-level Access cars come with the 1.2-litre petrol engine. Standard equipment is pretty sparse; all of the windows are manually operated, the front passenger doesnt get a grab handle, and theres no central locking or stereo system. Buyers don't even get coloured bumpers and white is the only paint available.
The Dacia Sandero costs from just 5995
Ambiance trim opens up the entire engine range, and if you stick with the 1.2 petrol then the spec upgrade is considerable for the extra 600 (it starts at 6595). You get body-coloured bumpers, remote central locking, lamps in the glovebox and boot, Bluetooth and a radio/CD that can play MP3s via a USB socket (there are only front speakers, mind you). Air-conditioning is not included, or offered as an option.

Range-topping Laureate trim starts at 7995 and rises to 9795 when combined with the diesel engine. It gets air-con, electric front and rear windows, a height-adjustable drivers seat, a four-speaker stereo, cruise control, speed limiter and a trip computer.

The options list is pretty simple (or non-existent, when it comes to the Access spec). Ambiance and Laureate models can be specced with 15-inch alloy wheels (425) and metallic paint (470), while rear parking sensors (250), a seven-inch touch-screen sat-nav system (250), leather seats (600) and a front centre armrest (90) are available for the top-spec model.
Cheaper versions will get basic kit
Dacia will offer a couple of option packs across all three trims. The Protection Pack brings an alarm, rear parking sensors and a boot liner for 395, while the Touring Pack adds a front centre armrest, luggage net and roof bars for 850.
All cars get a three-year, 60,000-mile warranty as standard. Buyers can extend the warranty to five years/60,000 miles (395) or seven years/100,000 miles (850).
The Dacia Sandero is available to order from October 22, and the first deliveries will reach customers in January 2013.
