Citroën has confirmed that six of its models qualify for the Government’s level two Electric Car Grant (ECG), slashing prices by £1500.

The EV grant will apply across most of Citroën’s electric lineup, starting with the ë-C3 and ë-C3 Aircross, which are now priced from £20,595 and £21,595 respectively. That means the ë-C3 still isn’t quite as cheap as a BYD Dolphin Surf, but it is now extra competitive against the Hyundai Inster and Renault 5.

Similarly, the ë-C4 and ë-C4 X are also eligible for the grant, with prices starting at £26,150 and £27,215 respectively.

Meanwhile, the new ë-C5 Aircross now starts at £32,565 with the grant included, which means it’s even more competitively priced against rivals like the VW ID 4 and the Skoda Enyaq.

The five-seat M version of the ë-Berlingo van is also eligible for the grant, with prices now starting at £29,740. That means it’s now priced competitively with top-spec diesel versions of the regular Berlingo.

Currently, Citroën has only announced models eligible for the level two £1500 grant. The ECG allows for discounts of up to £3750 on models that meet certain carbon emission requirements – likely to only apply to cars built here in the UK.

Most eligible Citroën models are built in Europe, while the ë-Berlingo is the only one assembled in the UK, at Stellantis’s facility in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.
