Ferrari LaFerrari revealed

This is the Ferrari LaFerrari, which has been unveiled at the Geneva motor show.

Billed as a 1million replacement for the 10-year-old Ferrari Enzo, the LaFerrari is a rival to the McLaren P1 supercar, also unveiled at Geneva.

The unusual LaFerrari name is, according to Ferrari, because this car is 'the Ferrari'.

It is powered by a normally aspirated 6.3-litre V12 engine. Ferrari says the car will fire from 0-62mph in less than three seconds and has a top speed in excess of 217mph. It is a petrol-electric hybrid, producing more than 900bhp.

Like a Formula One car, it has a carbonfibre tub chassis and Ferrari's F1 drivers, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, are said to have consulted on the seating position.

Just 499 examples of the LaFerrari will be made, each costing just over 1million. Deliveries are expected to start in the autumn.
