Geneva motor show 2012: Kia Cee'd

The new Kia Cee'd makes its public debut at the 2012 Geneva motor show.

The all-new Ceed hatchback goes on sale in June and the SW estate version follows in September.

The new Cee'd is slightly bigger than the current car, and will provide more cabin space. The boot has an impressive 380-litre capacity, up to the load cover and with the rear seats in place.

The new Cee'd is closely related to the new Hyundai i30, which is now on sale.

Although the two cars share many mechanical parts - including engines - they have distinct interior and exterior styling. On the outside, the Cee'd gets a sleeker, more aggressive look than the current car and the latest interpretation of Kia's 'tiger-nose' grille.

Inside, there's a dashboard that wraps around the driver, a new touch-screen control system and numerous metallic trim details.

Prices are likely to rise, so the Ceed wont be significantly cheaper than rivals such as the Focus and Golf. All versions are likely to be well equipped, however, and come with Kia's seven-year warranty.

Kia sources told What Car? that a three-door Pro Cee'd version will join the line-up in spring 2013. It'll be a rival to cars such as the Vauxhall Astra GTC. A hot hatch model with a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine - a version of the one used for the Hyundai Veloster Turbo will follow later in 2013.
