Mercedes CLS Estate revealed

Mercedes-Benz will launch an Estate version of its new CLS in 2012 and this is how it's likely to look.

advertisment

Based on the Shooting Break concept car unveiled at the Beijing motor show earlier this year, the Estate will be built on the E-Class platform like the four-door CLS.

The sleek design means there's likely to be less boot space than in the E-Class Estate, but it should still be able to haul a decent load.

We're likely to see the same range of engines as in the four-door, so expect two diesels producing 201bhp or 261bhp, a 302bhp V6 petrol and a 402bhp V8.

The Audi A7 and BMW 5 Series GT rival won't come cheap, however. Prices for the four-door car start at 46,500, so the Estate is likely to cost from around 50,000.

Judging by the CLS saloon we've just driven, the Estate should have dynamics to match its sharp looks.a
