The Mercedes CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake has been revealed, one week after the standard models were unveiled.

The high-performance version of the new Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake has a sportier look and a twin-turbo 5.5-litre V8 engine that develops 518bhp.

The CLS AMG Shooting Brake is a rival for range-topping versions of the Audi A7 Sportback, BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo and Jaguar XF Sporbrake. Cosmetic changes compared with lesser CLS Shooting Brake models include bespoke bumpers, front grille, bonnet and 19-inch alloy wheels. There are also wider front wings and LED headlamps.

Interior upgrades include AMG sports seats, Piano Black trim and a special instrument display.

A seven-speed automatic gearbox is standard and there's a bespoke suspension set-up with rear air suspension and a choice of three settings. Ceramic brakes are an option, and there's also a performance pack that boosts power output from 518- to 549bhp and torque from 516- to 590lb ft.

Prices and specification are yet to be confirmed, but the CLS Shooting Brake is expected to cost around 2000 more than the equivalent CLS, so a starting price of around 83,000 for the AMG version is likely.

It's expected to go on sale at the same time as the rest of the range, so customers will be able to order the car from August, with first deliveries in November.

Full pricing and specification will be announced closer to the launch.
