The Lexus LBX is a fantastic small SUV in its own right, having won our grand prize of What Car? Car of the Year back in 2024. And now its appeal has been widened with the introduction of the new Lexus LBX Vibrant Edition.

The new Vibrant Edition will add sporty black styling, with 18in matte black wheels, black front and rear spoilers, black insets in the bumpers and black chrome finishes. It’ll sit alongside mid-spec Premium Plus trim, which gets a larger 12.3in digital driver’s display compared with lower-spec models, a head-up display, keyless entry, a powered tailgate, wireless phone charging and an interior air purification system.

Premium Plus is our favourite trim in the LBX, since it’s very reasonably priced for all the equipment you get.

Buyers can opt for one of three different exterior colour schemes, each with a black roof and pillars. Inside, there’s black leather upholstery with red accents over the seats, centre console and seatbelts. Both front seats are power-adjustable.

The LBX Vibrant Edition comes equipped with the same hybrid system as in other LBX variants, comprising a 1.5-litre petrol engine and an electric motor. It produces 134bhp, which makes it punchier than entry-level versions of the Audi Q2 and Ford Puma.

Given its status of being a former What Car? Car of the Year, it’s no secret that we’re huge fans of the LBX. Not only is it efficient and cheap to run, it also benefits from high-quality materials and plenty of kit.

The Lexus LBX Vibrant Edition will be available for a limited time only, with production running from September 2025 to May 2026. Prices start at £35,750 for the all-black exterior paint, and jump to £36,750 if you opt for a two-tone variant. That makes it more expensive than any variant of the Ford Puma, and it’s slightly more expensive than an Audi Q2 Black Edition with its smallest engine.
