New Mini Cooper Oxford Edition gets patriotic British styling for its 25th birthday
Having been in production for 25 years, the modern Mini Cooper is celebrating its silver anniversary, and it’s doing so with a new edition that harks back to its British roots – meet the Mini Cooper Oxford Edition.
Available exclusively on the Cooper 3-door, the Oxford Edition will bring a host of patriotic styling elements. Most notably, it’ll don a Union flag roof design as a nod to its long-standing British heritage. Indeed, the original Mini dates all the way back to 1959, but the modern Mini hatch has been produced at BMW’s plant in Oxfordshire since 2001.
The Union flag detailing continues inside, with a textured flag on the steering wheel, plus a Union flag button on the floormat on the driver’s side. The passenger’s side features a chequered flag design, as a nod to the classic Mini’s racing heritage.
As standard, the Mini Cooper Oxford Edition comes with 18in two-tone alloys, which are usually a £550 extra. They come with Union flag valve cap covers. Buyers will be able to pick between either red or blue exterior paint.
The Oxford Edition will be available exclusively in Cooper S form, which comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and pumps out 201bhp.
The Mini Cooper Oxford Edition is expected to arrive in September, limited to just 125 units in the UK. Prices start at £30,120 – £1585 more than the entry-level Cooper S.
