A new variant for the Porsche Macan Electric gets punchy power and performance-focused features...

If there’s a manufacturer that exemplifies the phrase ‘spoilt for choice’, it’ll most likely be Porsche. Indeed, the German brand offers so many different variants of its high-end models, it’s not always easy to decide on just one – and now there’s another to add to the confusion: the new Porsche Macan Electric GTS.
The Macan Electric GTS will join the regular Macan Electric, Macan 4 Electric, 4S and Turbo models in the sports SUV’s line-up, sitting below the range-topping Turbo.
Power comes from two electric motors pumping out 509bhp, which ups to 563bhp with the extra boost from its Launch Control feature. That makes it one of the most powerful models in the Macan Electric range, with only the Turbo offering more power. Indeed, it’s punchier than a Tesla Model Y Performance, but not quite as powerful as a Lotus Eletre.

The Macan Electric GTS comes equipped with the same 95kWh (usable capacity) battery as in other versions, yielding a maximum official range of 363 miles. That makes it the least efficient version of the Macan Electric on sale, but it’s on par with the Model Y Performance.
That battery will be capable of charging at speeds of up to 270kW, meaning a 10-80% top-up should take 21 minutes – though it’s rare you’ll find a public charger that can facilitate those speeds.
The Macan Electric GTS comes fitted with Porsche’s Sport Chrono package as standard, which is designed for more high-performance driving. It adds increased levels of battery cooling to minimise power loss, as well as lap timing and sector analysis for on-track driving.

Other performance-focused features include sports air suspension and a torque vectoring system that controls how much power is sent individually to each wheel, allowing for better acceleration and grip.
Outside, the Macan Electric GTS will receive Porsche’s new Sport Design package as standard, adding new GTS-specific features including black accents on the inserts, side blades, wheel arches and rear spoiler. It also comes fitted with 21in alloy wheels, with 22in wheels available as an option.
Inside, the seats and steering wheel are upholstered in Race-Tex, a synthetic material designed for durability, while other accents, such as the seat bolsters and headrests, are finished in leather. Sports seats with 18-way adjustability come as standard.

The Macan Electric GTS gets Porsche’s three-screen configuration, consisting of a curved 12.6in digital driver's display, a 10.9in infotainment touchscreen and a tinted 10.9in touchscreen for the front passenger. Thanks to some new model year updates, the Macan range has received a digital key, new parking assistance functions, an AI-supported voice assistant, more in-car games and an improved towing capacity of 2500kg.
The new Macan Electric GTS is likely to arrive in showrooms next year. Prices will start at £89,000, putting it on par with the Lotus Eletre GT (which offers less range). However, you’ll pay much less for a Tesla Model Y Performance.
