Nissan reveals Twizy concept vehicle

Nissan could make its own version of the Renault Twizy electric vehicle.

The Twizy was revealed at last month's Paris motor show by alliance partner Renault, and will go on sale next year.

However Nissan's 'New Mobility Concept' is currently simply under proposal so no decision has been made as to whether it will go into production.

'It's another electric concept we are looking at,' said a Nissan spokesman.

The New Mobility Concept is a small, two-seat electric vehicle that Nissan says will be easy to park and drive, and will have the manoeuvrability of a motorcycle, but with greater safety provision.

Electric car share
Nissan says it will study the use of the vehicle in a variety of situations, including what it calls '2-mode EV car sharing' where the vehicle is used as a private commuter vehicle in the mornings and evenings, and as a corporate car during business hours.

Nissan's first electric car, the Leaf, goes on sale next year, and will be followed by an electric commercial vehicle. Nissan hasn't revealed what electric vehicles will come after that.
