Our cars: Dacia Sandero video update

The Dacia Sandero has proved to be one of the most talked-about cars of 2013 helped largely by the fact that it's the cheapest new car currently on sale in the UK.

To see if the Sandero's lack of glamour becomes wearing or charming over time, we've taken delivery of a 0.9-litre petrol version, and we'll be living with it in real-world driving conditions for 12 months.

We've gone for the top-spec Laureate model, which comes with electric windows, electric side mirrors, Bluetooth, air-conditioning, a seven-inch touch-screen infotainment system and cruise control.

We've also added a couple of options, in the form of a 250 sat-nav system and stereo upgrade, plus metallic paint for 470.

Despite this, our Dacia Sandero still came in at less than 10,000, with the final price working out at just 9515.

Consumer reporter Matthew Burrow has taken charge of the budget supermini, and he'll be keeping us up to date with his progress on a weekly basis. Here is the first of his regular video updates.
