Peugeot urges speed-limiter use

* Peugeot: use limiters near schools
* Set them to 20mph maximum
* Helps fuel economy, too

Peugeot is calling for drivers to use speed-limiters and to set them to 20mph when driving near schools or residential areas.

The manufacturer, which fits limiters to most of its models, says that limiting speed means safer driving and allows for better fuel economy.

'Excessive speed is widely regarded as the number one contributor to road accidents, and keeping a speed below 20mph makes total sense when driving in residential areas or near schools,' said Morgan Lecoupeur, director of marketing for Peugeot UK.

'Maintaining 20 mph or lower in a modern car is taxing, but in truth it needn't have to be due to speed-limiters fitted to most new models.'
