Seat wants sporty Mii

Seat is planning a performance version of the Mii city car, according to research and development boss Matthias Rabe.

Rabe told What Car?: 'We will see a more high-powered version'.

Seat revealed a Mii FR concept car last year, but despite having a sportier design it was powered by the standard 75bhp three-cylinder engine. Rabe, however, favours adding more power to go with the looks.

The final production car could therefore end up being turbocharged to 100bhp, which would make it a match for the forthcoming VW Up GT with which it shares most of its mechanicals.

Rabe also admitted that the forthcoming Seat Cupra would be 'more extreme than a Golf GTI'. The company has already revealed that the Cupra will come with 261bhp 44bhp more than the standard Golf GTI and Rabe confirmed that it will have 'more agility, more power and a better power-to-weight ratio'.

A four-wheel-drive version of the Cupra will also be available, which is likely to make it to the UK market.
