New Skoda Karoq vs used Audi Q3: practicality

Front space, rear space, seating flexibility, boot
The only people who will struggle with front-seat space in either car will be those of extraordinary height, because there's lots of room in both.
Our test Skoda Karoq didn't have the optional (£745) VarioFlex rear seats, which can be reclined, slid back and forth or removed entirely, but it's a box well worth ticking when speccing your car.
The Audi Q3 has sliding rear seats as standard, and offers more rear leg room than the Karoq when they're in their rearmost position. However, the Karoq offers more head room. And besides, a six-footers can fit behind a similarly sized driver in both.
Both cars have adjustable boot floors, too. But while the Karoq has 60/40 split folding rear seats – unless you tick the VarioFlex option – the Q3 features a more versatile 40/20/40 set-up.
The Q3 also has a slightly larger boot, but the Karoq's is a more usable shape, so we were able to fit one more of our trusty carry-on suitcases into it.
