Tax hikes coming in Budget

Motorists face the prospect of being hit hard in the pocket by tomorrow's Budget.

Besides the new first-year 'showroom' vehicle excise duty coming into force on April 1, the Budget could also forge ahead with a 3p increase in fuel duty.

advertisment

The AA has called for the hike in duty to be shelved, because fuel prices are already heading for record highs of 1.20 a litre.
