The Car Shop buys Autoquake assets

Car supermarket The Car Shop has bought the online technology of failed internet car seller Autoquake.com.

Visitors to Autoquake.com are now automatically redirected to carshop.co.uk.

Autoquake went into administration in March, after a shortage of funds forced it to pull the plug on its virtual showroom.

Autoquake.com was established in 2005, and grew into one of the leading online sellers. Last year its website received over 5.5 million visits.

Buyers could view multiple pictures of each car, including the interior and exterior, as well as a detailed report on the cars condition.

Once happy, they could reserve the car online, before viewing it at the companys handover centre or opting to have it delivered straight to their home.

Tescocars.com boosts online interest
Despite the failure of Autoquake, there has been renewed interest in online-only car sales, after the supermarket giant Tesco launched Tescocars.com.

Following the same model as Autoquake, Tescocars is designed to make the online process of browsing, choosing and reserving a used car as easy as possible.
