The huge improvements our readers achieved clearly show how much you could save. Even if they drive only half as efficiently from now on, the average savings will still total 15% that's 170 a year for the average driver of a diesel Vauxhall Astra.

It could represent a lot more if you drive something thirstier.

Although slowing down is a fuel-saving measure in itself, a quarter of the volunteers completed the course in less time using the new techniques despite a healthy average fuel saving of 21% between them.
