Volvo's updated DRIVe range is now on sale.
CO2 emissions for DRIVe versions of the C30, S40 and V50 have been cut, thanks to two new features. Each model now has a stop-start system that switches the engine off when at a standstill to save fuel, along with a regenerative charge facility that harnesses kinetic energy under braking to help charge the car's battery.
Previously, the C30 hatchback returned 64.2mpg and emitted 115 g/km of CO2; figures for the updated model are 72.4mpg and 104 g/km. The same changes have boosted fuel consumption for both the S40 saloon and V50 estate up to 70.6mpg, while CO2 emissions are down to 107 g/km.
You can also have the DRIVe package with R-Design trim for the first time, although these models don't get the stop/start system or the full range of areodynamic measures featured on other DRIVe models
Prices for the C30 DRIVe range start at 15,745 and the R-Design costs 17,240. The full range of DRIVe models now includes the C30, S40 and V50 as well as the V70, the S80 saloon and the XC60 and XC70 SUVs. All are available to order now.
