VW reveals new Golf estate

Volkswagen has released details of its updated Golf estate.

The face-lifted model has all-new front-end styling that brings it into line with the latest Golf hatchback, while the rear bumper and lights are new and there are also new alloy wheel designs.

Inside, the estate has the same interior improvements as the hatchback, so the dash, door trims and steering wheels are all new. Higher-grade materials give a classier feel, while the latest touch-screen stereo and satellite-navigation systems have been added.

The latest 1.4 TSI petrol engines will be added to the range and VW's new 104bhp, 1.6-litre common-rail diesel engine will replace the old 1.9 TDI. The 138bhp common-rail 2.0-litre diesel engine from the current car will continue.

Full details of the range haven't been announced yet, but VW says the new Golf estate will go on sale in November, with prices starting at around 15,000.
