What's the used Audi Q5 like?
It’s hard to believe there was ever a time when Audi had some doubts whether its Q5 SUV would prove to be a popular car, but history has proved there was nothing to worry about. It smashed all its sales targets and became the best-selling model in its class, and Audi’s best-seller, for many years in a row.
The first one was so successful that there was more than a hint of second-album complex over this latest version but, once again, Audi needn’t have worried – it too has proved to be one of the best SUVs you can buy, new or used.
It’s bigger in every dimension, but lighter. It’s quieter, too, and there’s a choice of smooth and refined petrol and diesel engines to suit your needs or your pocket. There’s plenty of performance, and good economy: the 2.0 TDI 190 version hits the highs of a claimed 56.5mpg, not bad for a spacious and well-equipped four-wheel drive car of this size.
On the road, all of the engine options offer smooth and relatively powerful performance, as well as impressive refinement. On its standard suspension option, the Q5 rides well, but with the optional air suspension it’s superb, probably the best in the class. Added to that its handling is safe and secure, although it stops short of offering the driver truly great involvement.
Inside, the driving position is multi-adjustable, there’s plenty of space for passengers both front and back, the boot is big and the interior is beautifully made with a good choice of rich materials – it also features Audi’s excellent rotary controlled infotainment system, again one of the best in the class. On top of all that, its safety and security kit list is exemplary.
